Founded in January of 2013 by Jay (Stogie Mug), Christopher (A.K.A. Amish) and Wendy Jennings (Mom), Three Mugs Brewing Company taproom opened its doors in August of 2013, offering a humble five guest taps. By November 2013, we boasted 20 rotating guest taps, and by late January 2014, we began brewery operations. Our first beers made their debut in the taproom during the Oregon Brewers Guild event, Zwickelmania 2014, on February 15th. Christopher has moved on, holding positions as Brewer at Alameda Brewing, Head Brewer at Depoe Bay Brewing, and Sale Consultant at Glacier Tanks. A new face arrived in June 2015, Joshua Jennings (Tongue Mug)—little brother—after spending 6 1/2 years in the Army as an Intelligence Analyst and Arabic Linguist. Joshua has taken on role of Head Brewer at Three Mugs, filling the tap list with many tasty brews.
We now have 24 taps, 18 of which we brew in house. We brew a wide range of beer styles because we like to drink a wide variety of beers. We also make a hard seltzer in various flavors, for those who want to cut their carbs or gluten, and we keep three local ciders on tap.
The "Three Mugs" of the logo actually represents Christopher on the left with his red beard, Jay in the middle with his stogie, and Joshua on the right... the tongue doesn't do the real one justice. Wendy designed the original logo for the family's homebrew products business, Brew Brothers. Since there is already a Brew Brothers brewpub in Reno, NV, we decided to keep the very recognizable logo but go with the new double entendre name.
We've had lots of help along the way bringing the brewery and taproom together. So, in no particular order, here are those folks who helped and continue to help us make this dream come true:
Eric and Bill Koll
Tom Allender Plumbing
The Bucks, Electricians Extraordinaire
Sean ("HVAC") & Greg Mason
Tony Dronkers (he recommended the new name)
and, of course, Diablo (RIP), Finnegan, and Bruno (RIP), the "Brew Dogs," and our newest additions, Shae & Loki.
Please, don't hurt us if we forgot someone, just send us a note and say, "Hey, what about so-and-so?" or, "What about me?"
Thank you all!
